    Default Backfire, won't stay running ......

    2001 buell blast 10,000 mil won't fire right away backfires then runs good drove for. 1/4 mi then won't start, maybe boot problems I know I need a new one

    thats exactly where i would start, get a new boot and make sure not to over tighten it

    What's the best way to change that boot? Is there a forum for that ?

    Pull it off and put the new one on - it's not a very complex item, just a big rubber tube. Assuming you have the stock air box, you simply take the air box off and then the carb is only attached via the boot - loosen the clamps on the boot, pull the carb away, and then pull the boot off the intake manifold. Reverse these steps to put the new one on, just make sure not to over tighten any bolts going into the soft aluminum carb.

    i was wondering if ya had to take the fuel tank cover offbut you answerd that for me, im not a macanic by any means but i am what my buddys at the parts store would call a "Parts Changer" haha these buells seem easy to work on. Oh and you guys on here are polite and answer right away 2 thumbs up guys thanks...

    Anything els this backfire problem could be? and where is the best place to buy a boot? i been thinking about dans super boot is it worth it? i only have the stock AB so do these boot go out all the time ?

    Dans boot would last longer and it's an upgrade for when you get a stack and ditch the air box. The backfire, if it's from the carb then it's most likely the boot, if you swap the boot and it still does it then I would recommend re jetting. If the backfire is from the exhaust I would recommend rejetting as well but could be caused by worse issues
